Star Crusade: War for the Expanse is a free-to-play sci-fi themed collectable card game developed and published by ZiMAD inc. Players command one of six factions fighting for control of a highly contested sector of space. These factions range in type from cybernetically enhanced to zealots to battle hardened. Some feature large mercenary armies while others prefer massive weapons.

Unlike a lot of CCG’s, Star Crusade allows players to customize their deck size — with over 400 cards to build from. The game features 3 modes: Casual, Raid, and Ranked. It also offers a variety of missions for players and can be played anywhere — both on PC and mobile devices.

Raids are a special type of gameplay that does not take player rank into account. During gameplay in this mode, players can not use a prepared deck and maps will be random.

The game features 4 different card types: Units — entity cards that will remain in play until they are destroyed, Tactics — one off cards capable of changing the flow of the battle in one move, Ciphers — cards that effect an enemy without them getting to see them beforehand, and Equipment — cards used directly by the commander (player) to directly engage in the battle. The equipment cards can consist of weapons or enhancements.

While the base game is free to play, there are a variety of content packs available to supplement it. These range in price from $20 to $50 and can be purchased for all available platforms.
